While quite a bit of time and research goes into selecting stocks, it is often hard to know when to pull out - especially for first time investors. The good news is that if you have chosen your stocks carefully, you won't need to pull out for a very long time, such as when you are ready to retire. But there are specific instances when you will need to sell your stocks before you have reached your financial goals.

You may think that the time to sell is when the stock value is about to drop - and you may even be advised by your broker to do this. But this isn't necessarily the right course of action.

Stocks go up and down all the time, depending on the economy...and of course the economy depends on the stock market as well. This is why it is so hard to determine whether you should sell your stock or not. Stocks go down, but they also tend to go back up.

You have to do more research, and you have to keep up with the stability of the companies that you invest in. Changes in corporations have a profound impact on the value of the stock. For instance, a new CEO can affect the value of stock. A plummet in the industry can affect a stock. Many things - all combined - affect the value of stock. But there are really only three good reasons to sell a stock.

The first reason is having reached your financial goals. Once you've reached retirement, you may wish to sell your stocks and put your money in safer financial vehicles, such as a savings account.

This is a common practice for those who have invested for the purpose of financing their retirement. The second reason to sell a stock is if there are major changes in the business you are investing in that cause, or will cause, the value of the stock to drop, with little or no possibility of the value rising again. Ideally, you would sell your stock in this situation before the value starts to drop.

If the value of the stock spikes, this is the third reason you may want to sell. If your stock is valued at $100 per share today, but drastically rises to $200 per share next week, it is a great time to sell - especially if the outlook is that the value will drop back down to $100 per share soon. You would sell when the stock was worth $200 per share.

As a beginner, you definitely want to consult with a broker or a financial advisor before buying or selling stocks. They will work with you to help you make the right decisions to reach your financial goals.

Ramp meter by Sheena 2.0™

Is there such a thing as boat ramp etiquette? Of course there is, and most boaters are aware of it. But, as in all aspects of life, there are some people who need to be reminded that they need to practice common courtesy. These boaters should be aware of there surroundings and avoid becoming a "boat ramp hog" which can lead to "ramp rage".

Proper boating etiquette is generally responsible for the boater in question spending as little time on the ramp as possible. By establishing a routine that is followed each time the boater takes his/her boat out, this boating etiquette can become second nature. This routine has three phases, they are pre-launch, launch and loading.

The pre-launch phase of boating ramp etiquette involves preparing the boat for launch. This phase occurs before the boat is backed down the ramp. During this phase, the boater should remove all the tie-downs on the boat, but the winch line should not be removed yet, all the equipment that is in the boaters vehicle should be transferred to the boat and the boater should put the boat's drain plug in. The boater should also prime the fuel by pumping the fuel bulb, place the key in the ignition and check the battery (which could be done at the boater's home or where ever the boat is stored). The trailer lights should be unplugged from the tow vehicle if they are not waterproof and sealed. If there is more than one person enjoying this boating trip, every one except for the tow vehicle driver should get in the boat, or at least one other person so they can drive the boat once it has been launched. If only one person will be enjoying this boating trip, then they can attach the boat line to the trailer or vehicle to keep it from drifting away from the boater until they can get to it.

After the pre-launch phase has been completed, the boater can back their boat down the ramp to the water, stopping just before the entry to the water and then unhook the winch line from the boat. Waiting until the entry to the water can keep the boat from unloading before it is time to, which could be in the middle of the ramp. If this were to happen the boater may be the victim of "ramp rage". The boater should also check to make sure that they did indeed undo the tie downs that keep the boat on the trailer. After the boat has been launched and disconnected from the tow vehicle, move it to the courtesy dock and immediately move the tow vehicle. Also, boaters should not stay at the courtesy dock any longer than absolutely necessary if there are other boaters using the ramp to load or unload their boats. If there is a person in the boat who can drive it, they can move it away from the dock until the other person is finished parking the tow vehicle, then the boat can be returned to the courtesy dock to pick up the person who has just parked the tow vehicle.

The last phase of boat ramp etiquette is loading the boat back on the boat trailer. Considering that most boaters are tired from their day in the sun, they can have short tempers and this is not the time to hog the boat ramp. Boaters loading their boat should simply back their tow vehicle with the boat trailer down the ramp, load the boat, hook the winch line on the boat and drive the tow vehicle back up the ramp to the parking lot. Only after they are off the boat ramp should the boater unload their boat, pull the drain plug and properly tie down their boat.

Stock Market Crash 1929 NYSE by storiesofusa

The Wall Street Stock Market has bounced back, after yesterday's sell-off. On February 27, the Dow Industrials plunged 416 points, causing unease among investors.

On Tuesday, February 17, the Dow dropped 416 points, which was 3.3 percent. This was the largest single-day point loss since the day the stock market reopened after the September 11, 2001 attacks, according the CNN.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke calmed investors after he told a House panel the the markets seem to be "working well" and are functioning normally. He also said that the sell off hasn't altered the Fed's view on U.S. economic growth.

After the Federal Reserved Chairman's remarks, the Dow soared more than 100 points.

The Fed Chairman allayed some fears of a slowdown in the in the U.S. and Chinese economies that brought on Tuesday's drop. There were remarks earlier in the week from former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan, warned that a U.S. recession could take hold this year. Greenspans remarks may have contributed to Tuesday's declines.

A Commerce Department report that the U.S. economy grew at an annual rate of 2.2 percent in the fourth quarter. The reading of the gross Domenic product was slightly below expectations, but they were not as low as some investors feared they would be.

Bernanke's comments and the GDP report helped depressed stock prices look a little more attractive. "It's typical that you get a bounce back the next day,; said Joseph V. Battipahlia, Chief Investment Officer and Ryan Bect & Company "Now we're essentially flat on the year. Can we go up from here or down? That sorting-out process will continue now."

According to NASDAQ, Bernanke reassured investors, saying "there didn't seem to be any single trigger for Tuesday's sell-off. He also noted that financial markets "seem to be working well" and that there has been "no material change" in the Fed's expectation for the U.S. economy. In fact, he said today's downward revision of Q4 GDP is "More consistent with our overall view of the economy" than the original report and that there's a "reasonable possibility" that the economy will show signs of strengthening as the year progresses.

"The Fed Chairman also put to rest concerns about sub prime mortgage lending spreading into the broader economy and said he sees no liquidity problem. Both items contributed to yesterday's widespread panic, and have provided an added sense of comfort for bargain hunter believing the sell-off was overdone." According to NASDAQ

NASDAQ reported that Wireless Services were the day's best performing S&P Industry group. Investors applauded Sprint Nextel which showed a 33% rise in their fourth quarter profits.

The biggest gain in the Dow was by Proctor and Gamble, which soared nearly 4 percent. Pharmaceutical maker Merck rose 2 percent after raising its full year earnings forecast. American Express jumped 2.3 percent.

Home builder shares fell amid concerns about the housing slump. New home sales experienced their steepest plunge in 13 years in January, according to a government report. The rising glut of new houses on the market pushed prices lower.

The Commerce Department said gross domestic product, which is the nation's broadest measure of the nation's economic activity, rose 2.2 percent in the fourth quarter, versus an earlier estimate of 3.5 percent growth.

The China Shanghai Composite Index fell nearly 9 percent Tuesday. The China Shanghai Composite Index showed a recovery today, helping to boost U.S. stocks.

Stock and Bond Investing - Risks and Advantages by businesspictures

One of the worst things which can happen to an investor is for them to lose their shirt. If you buy into a blue chip stock one day when it's trading around $50.00 and then you turn your monitor off for a few days before you notice your stock is trading at $5.00, you would be furious. You've lost 90% of your money. If you've invested in 1000 shares at $50.00, well I don't need to tell you, you don't quite have that same amount of money anymore. The roller coaster of investing makes most traders stomachs turn. Ask anyone who was on the floor buying up soon-to-be worthless shares of Fannie Mae in 2007 when the stock was trading at stellar highs of $65; two very rough years later the stock was trading at $.40.

For the blue chip investor these last few years have been unlike any others. For the penny stock investor though these type of swings are just par for the course. Penny stocks will lurch and leap and stall and croak and make investors mad as heck and then joyous from their giddy ether.

In penny stock investing you are talking about untested shares, generally; stock whose worth hasn't yet been determined and could go either way. Penny stock investing is risky for reasons beyond just that the security hasn't proven itself over the long term. Penny stocks are also stocks of companies who are trying to raise a lot of capital. Selling shares of stock is one of the best ways for a company with real intrinsic worth to raise this money. What often happens in penny stocks though is that this new product or service will overvalue it's worth at least in the beginning and there will be a decided spike followed by a slow drift downward.

If you are an investor who happened to buy in on the upswing you are holding onto all the shares of this company you can; trying to get more. If you were lucky enough to get in at the bottom and sell off before the downward momentum carried itself all the way out, then you have made your money and you are good. Generally though what happens is that the euphoria over a stock catches on and people pile in.

"Oh wow! A new way to manufacture old widgets! Brilliant!" Then when the euphoria dies down, the hangover begins.

American Scientific Resources (ASFX*) is one such stock that I've invested in which has taken me up and down the roller coaster. I first got into ASFX in September 2009. ASFX was trading around eight tenths of a penny. I got in over the course of several days between $.0072 and $.0098 for forty thousand shares. All in all my investment was $320. ASFX then went on a tear. I piled in with more shares actually increasing my average share buy-in as I picked up another 10,000 shares on September 28, 2009 when ASFX was trading at $.0245.

ASFX traded all the way up to $.08. I had an exit price which was never reached. Then ASFX began the slow drib downwards. Many investors never got out; holding onto these shares that they may have bought on the way up and it's hard to look at your account one day and say, "Well these 50,000 shares which were worth $4000 last week are worth $1000 today.

ASFX currently trades between $.0045 and $.005 but there is reason for hope if you are a shareholder as the company has recently finalized some deals.

Another problem with penny stock is the same as the first; this is a new company and they need money. So what penny stocks will often do is issue new shares! Issuing new shares to market is a great way to bring in new investors but this issuance is generally seen as a bad thing by legitimate investors or at least a reason to stay away for now. Then the value plummets because there are too many shares and not enough demand and you're heading down, down, down.

One such instance happened for my portfolio on 11/24/2010 when Solos Endoscopy (SNDY) did a 1000/1 reverse split. I only had 10,000 shares and these were bought at something of a peak but this reverse split really killed me. Today I have 10 shares of SNDY which sit in my account at -99.95% of their original purchase price. Even if I sold them it would cost me more money to execute the trade than those 10 shares are worth. I will hold onto these shares in the hopes that they do a forward split one day and the value rises. At the very least I can take the losses on my income taxes one year to help offset gains.

Of course penny stock investing has also made a few rich folks out of many. Imagine buying 10,000 shares of Microsoft when it was trading in the penny word in the 1980's? You may have had to wait a few years for the payoff but if you'd have bought in the troughs and sold at the peak it would have been a sweet payoff indeed.

Have People At any time Considered Attempting Your current Palm On Exchanging Options

The Opening Range Trading Tactic Utilized By Professionals by stockguru70

The trading of stocks and options has certainly met with a great deal of new enthusiasm as of late. Many people who have never hired a stock broker, or even traded a single stock for that matter, are being attracted to the option of trading online preferably than in the traditional manner. One of the main rationalities behind this is that most of the newer generation of stock traders have literally grown up using a personal computer for more or less any task for which it's able.

As you can probably guess, given the chance to utilize online option stock trading, this newer generation of investors will happily go online to trade. One of the advantages to online option stock trading is the power to see real time gains and losses of stocks being traded. This allows market savvy traders to be able to identify which way the stock prices have most potential to go. Another big advantage which online option stock trading offers is the chance for the trader to spot and foresee stock price variations. The ability to speculate when a price fluctuation will occur can greatly heighten the trader's profits.

Being able to foresee when a price fluctuation may happen can also enable investors to hold on to a stock longer than they would usually if they are anticipating a price surge. Naturally this also goes with its own risks, , if the trader has a bullish position, and if the price falls drastically instead of rising, then the investor could stand to lose a significant amount of capital. One of the main attributes of any successful investor is a good sense of timing.

Online option stock trading is available for all types of stocks. It makes no difference what type of stock that you may be interested in trading, because you'll find that online option stock trading covers all stocks. Want to trade common shares? You can trade it online. You will also find that you can trade issue stock, story stock, penny stock, treasury shares, synthetic stock, preferred shares, and widow-and-orphan stock.

Another huge advantage that online option stock trading offers investors is a rather fast and fairly cheap method to trade stocks. These trades can be made from anywhere that the investor can find an internet access, at home or on the road. Some of the online option stock trading websites also give investors a trial demo account so that they can practice trading before they invest any capital. These demo accounts also act as stock trading training, allowing the investors to see how everything works and to get comfortable with online trading.

One thing is for certain; before you begin online option stock trading, be sure you fully understand all of the inherent risks associated with online option stock trading. Always do your research before picking a stock, and if you're uncertain of your abilities, consult a broker.

Appliance Repair For Just About Every Room In The House Internet Advertising and marketing For Appliance Repair Technicians

appliance repair boise by Work Hard, Play Hard!

Appliance repairs are expensive. On the other hand, so are new appliances. Used appliances cost less, but then you are faced with repair costs again to keep them running. It's a vicious circle, but one we can break by doing our own appliance repairs.

Before the advent of the Internet, especially the World Wide Web, do-it-yourself appliance repair was problematic to say the least. Manuals were expensive, if you could find them at all, and parts were often hard to locate. I found myself doing a lot of figuring it out as I went - not always the best strategy for machinery repair.

Now, though, there are a wide range of resources available online for the do-it-yourself repairman. This article will guide you through some of the options. Though it is by no means an exhaustive list, there is plenty here to see you through to saving money by fixing it yourself.

The Good (Recommended)

American Appliance is my first stop for appliance repair information. The best features of this site are the diagnostic charts and the exploded views of subsystems with all the parts labeled. This site is invaluable for identifying potential causes of your problems and identifying the parts responsible so you can order replacements.

Appliance Aid offers a decent repair information section with detailed instructions for diagnosing and repairing many common problems. My biggest gripe with these instructions are they way they are formatted. More white space and some paragraph breaks would make these pages much more readable and, thus, more useful. In spite of that, this site provides excellent information on lots of different appliances and brands, along with a listing of manufacturers' telephone numbers and a section of appliance repair jokes for easing the stress.

Samurai Appliance Repair Man The Samurai Appliance Repair Man hosts a blog and a number of forums where you can ask questions about your appliance problems and get answers from the host and from other forum users. The Samurai Appliance Repair Man is occasionally sarcastic or satirical, but seems to give good advice. The forums are an excellent source of advice from experienced appliance repair professionals and do-it-yourselfers. He does ask that you contribute to his beer fund, though this is completely voluntary. It's a small price to pay for such good help.

Appliance Blog gives tips from an appliance repairman. The Appliance Blog also has asociated forums for quick access to other users' knowledge.

The Bad (Not Recommended)

Appliance411 is a Web site with no apparent purpose. It offers extremely limited help, and the forums are small and little-used. Parts listings are linked to RepairClinic.com.

ApplianceRepair.net is deceptively named. the only resources available here are printed and online manuals for purchase. It does have one feature of limited usefulness that lets you search for parts distributors by Area Code.

The Ugly (Don't Waste Your Time)

ApplianceStuff.com has VERY limited repair info. They have an online Parts Information Request Form, but no catalog.

Point and Click Appliance Repair is another site with extremely limited online help. If you purchase a part, they offer free help by e-mail.

Parts and Manuals

When the time comes to order parts, finding a trustworthy and dependable source is vital. These three sites offer online ordering and comprehensive parts catalogs. They accept major credit cards over a connection secured by Secure Sockets Layer technology. They all also have toll-free telephone numbers listed if you want to speak to a person.

RepairClinic.com is my preferred source for appliance parts. Their online catalog contains seemingly every appliance part you might ever need. If you don't know the part number or name or the maodel number of your appliance, their online Parts Detective will help you narrow your choices based on size, color, metallic or plastic, and location of the part in question. They keep virtually their entire catalog in stock and ship promptly. Highly recommended.

PartSelect.com carries an extensive inventory factory original or authorized replacement parts. They use several warehouses around North America, so parts can often be shipped from nearby for reduced shipping cost and fast delivery. The real drawback to PartSelect, and the consideration that keeps them from being my Number One pick, is that you must have the model number available to locate parts. Else, you have to browse through thousands of parts to find the right one. Since my washing machine, the appliance I spend the most time working on, has lost the plate containing the model number, this eliminated PartSelect from my top slot.

Appliance Parts Depot allows browsing to find the part you need by type of appliance, then brand name, then part description. Their catalog does not have pictures of many of the parts listed, so identification can be an adventure occasionally. AP Depot also has a Chat feature for help and support.

Do-it-yourself appliance repair is a good way to save money, if you have an adventurous mindset, and there is plenty of quality help available just a Web browser away.
